Hope for Hagan! Swing for a Cure!

The second Kilcock Golf Classic, organised by our friend Damian Scanlon took place at the Kilcock Golf Course on September 30th!

For the second year in a row, this tournament was a resounding success! Teams had a wonderful day of great golf and good weather as they partook in this event. The incredibly popular raffle draw had everyone excited at the prospects of taking home one of the many awesome prizes up for grabs. It was a memorable day had by all!

Cystinosis Ireland would like to thank Damian Scanlon and friends for their efforts putting this event together. We know how hard it can be, and you really knocked it out of the park (course)!

They raised a jaw-dropping €11,225 for Cystinosis Ireland!

Below is Damian’s post about the day:

We arrived down to Kilcock Golf Course yesterday to a gorgeous morning and the tone was set for the day! With Elaine Wilson, Dave Allen, Niamh Byrne and Paul Carey all working to help the cause the event was in good hands. As the golfers took to the course they were well stocked with fantastic goodie bags supplied by Al Kealy. The golfers were treated to some tasty barbecued hotdogs on the 10th by Sean Kavanagh.

In the clubhouse there was a great atmosphere with lots of kids, family and friends coming and going throughout the day. As the day progressed the weather continued to improve, we had 80 golfers on the day who ploughed on through the ups and downs of their round to return to the club house in great spirits. We had a good crowd for the prize giving and with Bren Lennon organising everything there were prizes a plenty. There were a few tears as we talked about the Cause but with so many friends in the one place the support soon dried the tears and laughter was rumbling around the room again.

The aim of the day was to raise awareness of Cystinosis and to raise funds to contribute to the search for a cure. In total we raised 11,255Euro to find that cure! And we will find that cure. With people like Robbie Martin raising 1,700 Euro selling raffle tickets on his lunch break our fundraiser was always going to be a great success. Thank you to all the golfers and friends who turned up on the day. Thank you to all the people who donated fantastic prizes. Thank you to all the people who bought tickets and thank you to all the sponsors. After last year’s event I said it’s amazing what friends and family can do to help one of their own, I think yesterday endorses that once again.
